There's a common misconception that the average professional footballer is as thick as two, if not three, short planks. Well, as this lot prove, some of them are very, very clever, Trevor?
Frank Lampard
As a former pupil at posh Essex public school Brentwood, Frank Lampard not only excelled at sport but he was pretty handy when the text books came out too. Indeed, when he left, he had 11 GCSEs to his credit, with an A-star, four As, five Bs and a C. I am the only footballer with an A-star in Latin brags the Chelsea playmaker.
Filippo Inzaghi
If Pippo gained his degree in accounting in the same way that he scores goals, he probably fluked it in a manner everyone thought impossible. By sneezing on the exam paper for instance. But for a man who excels in scoring with his shins, backside and shoulders, his accountancy degree could still come in handy. When he has to tally up his career goals for instance, hes got over 200 so far.
Arsene Wenger
It'll come as no surprise to most football fans that the man who can speak around six languages also has a couple of degrees, one in engineering and a Masters degree in economics. Its just such a shame he never learned to open his eyes when theres a major incident on the pitch.
Shakka Hyslop
The big goalie from Trinidad was a graduate of Howard University in Washington DC. Not only did he graduate with an honours degree in mechanical engineering, but he also interned at NASA. So youd think hed have been intelligent enough not to sign for Kevin Keegans anti-defence Newcastle side.
